The neo-born promotional formula of “fashion and food” will be tested in New York’s shops by February. From Calitri’s textile district to New York’s shops. Confartigianato Avellino doesn’t let the grass grow under his feet, so it showed the neo-born promotional territorial formula of “Tessuti & Talenti” (combination of fashion and food) yesterday, in Calitri, in the Agriturismo “Valle Ofanto”, together with “Nelle Grandi Fauci”. Apart from institutes, journalists and sector experts, there were many textile entrepreneurs and typical local producers. It has been explored the way for a new adventure overseas that could lead Irpinian textiles to the greatest fashion atelier in the world. Calitri – not only a menu, even if strange, based on caciocavallo, fox tail, ceramics and denim, in order to characterize the receptivity of the territory, but a promotional formula of “made in Italy” for export to distant countries, as the United States of America. The promotional lever of “Tessuti & Talenti”, tested in a combination of food and wine, artistic and textile handicraft, is unique of its kind and it has had its first effects. The event was promoted by Confartigianato Avellino, confederation led by Ettore Mocella and Cizeta srl (textile company that owns the trademark “Nelle Grandi Fauci”). It was greeted with enthusiasm by entrepreneurs of “cut and sew”, not only in Irpinia. Two textile ‘craftsmen’, Salvatore Caruso and Daniele Monaco, had the idea of exporting the formula presented in Calitri (in the presence of regional presidents of Confartigianato Campania and Potenza, Antonio Campese and Tonino Miele). Salvatore Caruso is the owner of Cizeta srl in Calitri and Daniele Monaco, together with his brother Diego, is in charge of Galaxy Italia, in Postiglione, Salerno, a company specialized in the manufacture of high quality ties, that are distributed in selected exclusive boutiques around the world (Europa, Asia, Australia, United States of America, Brasile). Today this company also produces a collection of essential elements for a man with class. February may already be the month of turning: the pair of entrepreneurs intends to conquer American ateliers with this formula soon. “Go to New York to sell clothing is not easy, especially if you are a small entrepreneur and if you don’t have a name - says Caruso –indeed we must invest money to promote our products. So we thought: if we offered high quality clothing together with a further distinctive element: food, that is regarded as another Italian rarity, as clothing, could the scenario change?” The idea, that stems from this question, is therefore to propose to New York’s boutiques a presentation of the company and its products in an unusual way: through a menu of fabrics and flavors. This formula might work even better abroad than in Italy, because Italian food and clothing are known and well appreciated throughout the world. This conviction also has the support of Confartigianato Avellino. “The action of territorial marketing, put into field by Confartigianato Avellino, - says the president Mocella – has emphasized the territory of Alta Irpinia, that is rich in potential and it has allowed the encounter between two well-known entrepreneurs in the textile industry in Campania. They want to make synergy and their aim is to make “made in Campania” a synonym of “made in Italy” in the world.
